Visits for Youth

Community and school groups are always welcome at the Library. When visiting the Central Library, you can schedule a 15-minute orientation to the Faye G. Allen Children’s Center or Starbucks Teen Center and an overview of library services, and/or take a self-guided tour and explore the Library with a scavenger hunt.

If you would like to visit a different library location, please contact the branch directly. If you are interested in scheduling a visit at the Central Library, please complete our group visit form below. Please schedule your visit at least two weeks in advance, so that we can give your group the best possible service.

Workshops and presentations

We provide a range of services for middle and high school students, including:

  • One-hour research workshops in your classroom.  A typical workshop includes tips for effectively using the library catalog, an overview of relevant databases for homework and research, and skills necessary to evaluate online resources for accuracy and bias.  Workshops may be tailored to support a specific subject area or school assignment.
  • Visiting your school to promote books and reading, our free Homework Help service and other library programs for teens.
