Beginning today, Wednesday, Oct. 25, children and their caregivers can enjoy the collections, colorful displays and twinkling lights of the Faye G. Allen Children’s Center at The Seattle Public Library’s Central Library six more hours a week.

The Children’s Center, located on Level 1 of the Library, will now be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, which is the same schedule as other levels of the Central Library. Previously, the Children’s Center closed at 6 p.m. daily.

The Central Library Children’s Center offers programs including a weekly baby story time on Tuesdays from noon to 12:30 p.m. in the Story Hour Room, as well as occasional special story times, such as a Firefighter Story Time on Tuesday, Oct. 31 at 10:30 a.m.

NEW HOURS FOR THE TEEN CENTER

The Central Library’s Teen Center, located on Level 3, will also change its hours to better match young patrons’ needs. Starting on Monday, Nov. 13, the Teen Center will be open daily from noon to 4 p.m. (it was previously open from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.). “Open hours” at the Teen Center means that a staff member is available at the Teen Center information desk. Teens and young adults ages 12 to 26 can still hang out at the Teen Center whenever the Central Library is open, even when a staff member isn’t present.
