The Library is a great place to start your job search, with resources for discovering a new career path, gaining new job skills, creating a cover letter and resume, and finding job opportunities. Free job search and career development programs, special job search computers, and staff help are available in the Library’s Job Resource Center located on level 7 at the Central Library.

Job Search Resources
Employers often advertise job openings in three ways:
- Individual company websites - Interested in a job at a specific company? Look on the company's Web site.
- Industry trade websites & listservs - Trade associations advertise jobs online. We can help you identify trade associations for your industry.
- Local and national job websites – the following is a list of local and national job search sites.
Here are a few examples:
- AARP Job Search - AARP works with employers who are interested in maintaining an age-diverse/experienced workforce.
- CareerBuilder- One of the oldest job search websites with free tools for creating resumes and cover letters.
- CASY - This military-affiliated nonprofit organization supports a job board and career resources exclusively for Veterans, Transitioning Military and Military Spouses.
- City of Seattle Job Opportunities - Create a NeoGov account to apply for career opportunities in departments of the City of Seattle.
- Craigslist- Craigslist is a classified ads website that includes job listings in an easy to use, text-based format.
- Glass Door- Read reviews from candidates that interviewed for actual positions at a company, plus other "inside" information.
- Governmentjobs.com - GovernmentJobs.com is the largest public sector job board in the country. Automatically save your applications in a centralized place so you can keep track of where you've applied and check the status of your submission.
- Idealist - For 25 years, Idealist has been supporting nonprofit organizations with job and internship postings, career fairs, and a graduate school directory.
- Indeed- Indeed.com is the most widely used website for job seekers, with thousands of jobs posted each day.
- Job Openings with King County - Use your Governementjobs.com account to search and apply for career opportunities in King County departments.
- LinkedIn - Limit your job search to companies where you have contacts with this professional networking platform for job seekers, entrepreneurs, and businesses.
- Monster- This widely used job search site is the official partner of WorkSourceWA.
- NWJobs- The Seattle Times hosts this local job board.
- USAJOBS - Search for U.S. government jobs using the official job site of the United States federal government.
- Washington State Colleges and Universities - State colleges, universities, and technical colleges manage their recruitment and hiring independently. To find out about job openings at higher education institutions, check out their employment web sites.
- Working for Washington State - Find a government job at a state agency in the in Washington State. Use your Governmentjobs.com account.
- WorkSource Seattle-King County - WorkSource Seattle-King County works with local organizations to connect job seekers with employers.

We offer many opportunities for gaining new job skills through online learning, including LinkedIn Learning and Microsoft Imagine Academy.

Washington Career Bridge - Career Bridge is a state government website with education programs, career quiz, and labor market data.
Washington State Labor Market Info - The Labor Market and Economic Analysis team provides data and analysis of Washington state's employment conditions, economy, job market and workforce.
WOIS/The Career Information System - WOIS provides Washington state information on salaries, educational programs, schools and training requirements for various jobs. Includes tools to help you choose a career.

Technology Certification Exams
We have partnered with Washington State Library to offer free Intuit, Information Technology (IT) Specialist, Microsoft Certified Fundamentals, and Microsoft Office Specialist certification exams as a part of the Microsoft Learn program to those that currently live, work or attend college in Washington State.
