Our community-responsive programming is guest-curated by Seattle-area artists, to increase opportunities where Seattle’s community voices can be seen and heard.
Curated by writer and editor Nisi Shawl, the three events in this series underscore the importance of stories created for everyone. Let’s look at how to make sure that what’s written about historically marginalized characters rings true, and let’s share our love of diverse, inclusive literature with brand new readers.
Nisi Shawl (they/them) is a multiple award-winning writer and editor of science fiction and fantasy. They are the author of “Everfair” and the newly released sequel “Kinning.” They are the co-author (with Cynthia Ward) of “Writing the Other: Bridging Cultural Differences for Successful Fiction.” Their short stories have appeared in Asimov's, Strange Horizons, and numerous other magazines and anthologies.
We have offered guest-curated programming since 2021.
