Get ready for the winter months and the ailments that can sometimes accompany the cold weather with a Native American approach to herbs and staying healthy from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27 at the Broadview Branch, 12755 Greenwood Ave. N., 206-684-7519.

Library events and programs are free and everyone is welcome. Registration is required. Free parking is available in the branch parking lot. All supplies are included. Due to high demand of the class, please arrive and check-in by 1:45 p.m. or your seat will be given to standby patrons.

At this workshop led by Susan Balbas, Cherokee and Yaqui Nations, you'll learn about some of the many native plants of our area we can use to keep our bodies in great shape, and increase your ability to fight off colds and flus. You'll leave with recipes, sample medicines and lots of new plant knowledge.
