Need a break from the mundane? The Seattle Public Library offers "Virtual Thrilling Tales: A Story Time for Grown Ups," a new Library podcast series where you can laugh, gasp and shudder to short stories expertly read by David Wright, Reader Services Librarian at the Central Library.

To kick off the virtual version of Wright's beloved live story readings, we're featuring "This World is Taboo," an eight-part science fiction  pulp serial by Murray Leinster that first appeared in Amazing Magazine in July 1961. It's the story of a Med Ship man – or space doctor – confronted with the terror of plague and an unjustly quarantined planet in a distant galaxy. Tune in to the first two, 30-minute installments now!

Future episodes will be released weekly, and there's a treasure trove of past Thrilling Tales recordings for you to discover. Find them all at spl.org/podcasts.
