Starting on Wednesday, Nov. 4, The Seattle Public Library’s Curbside Pickup Service will expand to include the Beacon Hill Branch, 2821 Beacon Ave. S., and Southwest Branch, 9010 35th Ave. S.W.
Both branches will offer Curbside Pickup for holds from noon to 6 p.m. Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. Only walkup service is available at these branches, which means that patrons who pick up their holds from these locations will not need to schedule appointments.

These two locations will also serve patrons from the lobby of the buildings, a first for the Library’s Curbside Service. Safety precautions include physical distancing markers, limits on numbers of patrons in the area, plexiglass barriers, and the same contactless checkout experience as at the outdoor locations.

“Testing Curbside Service from the lobby at these two locations will allow for better efficiency in delivering Library materials, protect staff and patrons from adverse weather, and allow us to identify any concerns with in-building services on a trial basis,” said Bo Kinney, managing librarian for the Library’s Circulation Services.

With the addition of Southwest and Beacon Hill branches, a total of 11 Library locations are offering Curbside Pickup Service. See spl.org/Curbside for information on how Curbside Service works and the schedule of service for each Curbside location.

The Library is also offering a selection of Peak Picks titles – high-demand books that are available without holds or waits – at each Curbside location until supplies last each day.

RETURN YOUR MATERIALS!

Materials can be returned at all Curbside locations, as well as at two other locations, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. Find information about returns and all Library services at spl.org/RoadtoReopening. Please contact us at 206-386-4190 if you would like to request an ADA accommodation for pickups or returns.

DUE DATES APPLY

Due dates were recently reinstated and are being applied to all physical materials checked out from The Seattle Public Library to ensure that our collection is circulating and we can serve more patrons. Loan periods remain the same as they were prior to the Library’s COVID-19 closure: three weeks for most materials and two weeks for DVDs and Peak Picks titles.

Because the Library understands that patrons may need extra time to return items during the COVID-19 pandemic, the amount of time before an account is suspended because of an overdue item has been extended to 31 days. An item will be considered lost and charged to an account when it is six weeks overdue.
