Thrilling Tales, Noon and Night: Stories at The Seattle Public Library

Need a mid-day break? The Seattle Public Library offers "Thrilling Tales: A Storytime for Grown Ups" where you can laugh, gasp and shudder to live readings at noon and 7 p.m. on select Mondays of the month at the Central Library, 1000 Fourth Ave., Level 1, Microsoft Auditorium, 206-386-4636.
New this month: the first of our Thrilling Tales After Dark! Love a good story, but can't make our popular lunch hour Storytime for grownups? Now, by popular demand, we have Thrilling Tales at night! Come to the scene of the crime, the edge of adventure and timeless realms of wonder. Sit back, relax and escape from the everyday as we bring you gripping short stories expertly read—and well-calculated to keep you in suspense.
Library programs are free and open to the public. Registration is not required. Parking is available in the Central Library garage at the regular rates. Brown bag lunches and knitting are welcome.
This month's stories will include:
- 12:05 p.m. to 12:50 p.m. Monday, June 4 – "Teardown" by Marc Lecard. LoDuco isn't exactly the hardest worker on the construction site, but some trigger-happy gangsters know just how to motivate him.
- 12:05 p.m. to 12:50 p.m. Monday, June 18 – "In All Honesty" by Ruth Rendell. A wealthy heiress can never be too careful, especially around her children, or her servants. Or herself.
- 7 p.m. to 7:55 p.m. Monday, June 18 – "The Anything Box," by Zenna Henderson. Is it just - make believe? Little Sue Lynn carries your heart’s desire in her cupped hands, and she will make you believe.
