Need a break from the mundane? The Seattle Public Library offers "Thrilling Tales: A Story Time for Grown Ups" where you can laugh, gasp and shudder to live readings during your lunch.

- 12:05 p.m. to 12:50 p.m. Monday, Dec. 2 – "Gone As By Magic" by Richard Hardwick. Frank Pilcher had vanished over a year ago, and nobody knew where – except me. I’m the one who buried him.
- 12:05 p.m. to 12:50 p.m. Monday, Dec. 16 – "Love Me" by Thomas Sniegoski. This Christmas, ex-con Flynn just wanted to get his family back, but that fond holiday wish might just become his worst nightmare.
