Startup Weekend EDU: Design for Education at the Central Library Oct. 5-7

Do you have an idea for improving education? Bring your creative startup ideas and skills to an exciting weekend of product and service development from 6:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 7 at The Seattle Public Library, Central Library, 1000 Fourth Avenue!
Find the right people with complementary skills and the passion to build an education product in one weekend. Startup Weekend EDU Seattle is your opportunity to transform your education ideas into action in just a single weekend.
Library events are free and everyone is welcome. Registration is required.
Friday, Oct. 5: Register, pitch your idea, form teams and start work.
- 6:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. – Level 1, Microsoft Auditorium
Saturday, Oct. 6: Build your product with the help of your team and expert coaches.
- 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. – Level 4, Washington Mutual Foundation Meeting Room 1.
Sunday, Oct. 7: Demo your product and receive feedback from judges.
- 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. – Level 1, Microsoft Auditorium
At Startup Weekend EDU Seattle, you'll pitch your education-based startup ideas and receive feedback from judges and other participants. Teams will form around the top ideas, as determined by popular vote. Your team will spend two days designing, conducting user tests, validating your ideas and building prototypes. Your team will receive coaching from experienced education designers and industry professionals. On the last day, you'll pitch your education product or service to judges and win prizes that will help take your idea to the next level.
This is a free event, open to:
- Developers – anyone who can and will write code
- Educators – teachers, professors and school leaders
- Designers – those with graphic design and UI/UX skills
- Business innovators with marketing, public relations or non-technical business backgrounds
Professional coaches will be on hand to guide teams through the process. Library staff will support the information needs of event participants throughout the weekend, assisting the teams as they turn innovative ideas into action.

The Library gives everyone the opportunity to learn and excel. Entrepreneurs can get business support online, and in-person help is available at workshops and one-on-one appointments.
