The Seattle Public Library’s NewHolly Branch (7058 32nd Ave. S.) reopened to the public on Wednesday, Oct. 13. The reopening was welcome news for the surrounding community, particularly for students and other youth in the neighborhood that the NewHolly Branch focuses on serving. It was also a major milestone for the Library. With the NewHolly Branch reopened, the Library has successfully reopened all 27 of its locations.

The NewHolly Branch is open from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Mondays and Tuesday, and from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Patrons are invited to browse the collection and check out books, use a computer or Wi-Fi, charge devices, ask for assistance or simply sit and read.

“This is an exciting day for The Seattle Public Library and for NewHolly Branch patrons,” said interim Chief Librarian Tom Fay, who was on hand to celebrate the reopening. “Seattle is a city of neighborhoods, and today the Library is once again serving every neighborhood in Seattle. The NewHolly Branch is a safe, welcoming space, and a vital resource for kids and families in Southeast Seattle. It is wonderful to welcome the community back inside.”

The NewHolly Branch is situated within the larger NewHolly neighborhood campus, which is also home to child care centers, a K-12 tutoring program, a branch of South Seattle Community College, a job resource center and more. The campus is located in the heart of Seattle Housing Authority’s NewHolly neighborhood in Beacon Hill.

A complete list of expanded branch schedules is provided below. The Library will continue to restore hours of operation as staffing levels permit, and seeks to return to full, pre-pandemic, 7-day service later this year.

MASKS REQUIRED

To comply with Washington state public health regulations, and to protect all patrons and staff, especially those who have not yet been vaccinated and/or are at greater risk from COVID-19, everyone must wear masks while in Library buildings, regardless of vaccination status. All reopened locations are open at 100% capacity and currently do not require physical distancing of patrons.
