'Fremont Fireside Chat': Local History at The Seattle Public Library May 26

The Seattle Public Library will co-present a Fremont Fireside Chat, featuring a local historian who discusses the history, culture and people of Fremont, from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 26 at the Fremont Branch, 731 N. 35th St., 206-684-4084.
Library programs are free and everyone is welcome. Registration is not required.
Moderated by Kirby Laney of Fremocentrist.com, Fremont Fireside Chats bring the stories of Fremont to audiences of all ages. The one-hour program will have a question and answer period. Afterward, there will be a short reception where attendees can mingle and ask about all things Fremont.
Fremont Solstice Parade and Celebration – Saturday, May 26
Two Fremont Arts Council volunteers, past president Susan Harper and current president Harley Harding, will talk about the history of the Fremont Solstice Parade. You'll hear how it continues to be driven by grassroots volunteers and how it has developed into a signature city event.
You'll also learn background information on the Celebration after the Solstice Parade. The Celebration, produced by the Fremont Arts Council, is a community event where art and exuberance meet and mix. Originally called the "Pageant," the Celebration is an opportunity for creative expression and community building.
