Film Screenings: 'Reunification' and 'Angel Island Profile: Tyrus Wong ' at The Seattle Public Library May 27

Join us for a free screening of two films on the theme of family history and the Asian American immigrant experience, followed by a Q & A with director Alvin Tsang from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, May 27 at The Seattle Public Library, Central Library, 1000 Fourth Ave., Level 1, Microsoft Auditorium, 206-386-4636.
Library programs are free and open to the public. Registration is not required. Parking is available in the Central Library garage for $7.

100-year-old retired artist Tyrus Wong (1910-2016) shares his journey to the United States to discover the truths about "Gold Mountain."
Reunification (2015) 89 minutes, directed by Alvin Tsang.
This award-winning film gives an insider view on the contemporary Asian-American immigrant experience, divorce and family psychology, and personal filmmaking. The director reflects on his family’s migration from Hong Kong to Los Angeles in the early 1980s – a period fraught with betrayal from his parents’ divorce, economic strife and communication meltdowns. This poetic exploration of 17 unresolved years moves moodily across different channels and modes, bending into labor histories and Hong Kong's colonial trajectories.
