Art, Film and Music: Previews and Performances at The Seattle Public Library in November

The Seattle Public Library will host art showcases, film screenings and concerts at several locations throughout the city in November.
SCHEDULE
Ladies Musical Club Concert - 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 3 at the West Seattle Branch, 2306 42nd Ave. S.W., 206-684-7444. Ladies Musical Club Opera presents a "Morning, Noon and Night” song & piano recital. Performers will include: Janet Anderson, piano; and Katie Hochman, soprano.
We're Still Here: An Art Showcase for Members of Chief Seattle Club - 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7 at the Central Library, 1000 Fourth Ave., Level 8 Gallery, 206-386-4636. Join us for the opening event of We're Still Here, an art exhibit presented in partnership with Chief Seattle Club. Come see the art of Chief Seattle Club members and learn more about this human service agency that provides sacred space to nurture, affirm and renew the spirit of urban Native people.
Ladies Musical Club Concert - Noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 13 at the Central Library, 1000 Fourth Ave., Level 1, Microsoft Auditorium, 206-386-4636. Join us for a Ladies Musical Club concert featuring songs in songs in English, Russian and Spanish as well as piano works by Ravel and Rameau. Performers will include: Susan Strick, soprano; and Karin McCullough and Maria Khavin, piano.
Scarecrow Video - 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 24 at the Ballard Branch, 5614 22nd Ave. N.W., 206-684-4089. Scarecrow Video presents a screening of "Woman on the Run" (1950), a crime film noir about Frank Johnson, who flees police after becoming an eyewitness to a murder. His wife, a reporter, the police and the murderer pursue Johnson around scenic San Francisco. Directed by Norman Foster and starring Ann Sheridan, Dennis O’Keefe and Robert Keith, this is the third film in our four-part "Femme Noir" movie series.
Movies at the Central Library - 2:30 p.m. to 4:05 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 27 at the Central Library, 1000 Fourth Ave., Level 4, Howard S. Wright Family & Janet W. Ketcham Meeting Room 2, 206-386-4636. Join us for a screening of "Hotel Splendid: How an Italian Hotel Became Home for African Refugees" (2016). "Hotel Splendid" is an intimate account of a community of migrants from Africa who are living in an Italian hotel converted into an emergency refugee camp. The film recounts the violence and abuse in the migrants' dramatic voyage to Europe, and the Kafkaesque, almost surreal experiences they encounter during the evaluation process.
