Art on the Plaza: Outdoor Performances at Seattle's Central Library in August

Get ready for Art on the Plaza! In August, the Central Library will have three afternoons of music, dance performances, drop-in art making and awesome books to check out on the Fourth Avenue plaza. We'll wrap up the series with a discussion about immigration through an arts and social justice lens.
SCHEDULE OF EVENTS
Art on the Plaza - Central Library, 1000 Fourth Ave., outside the Fourth Avenue entrance in the Atsuhiko and Ina Goodwin Tateuchi Plaza.
- Noon to 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 16 features LaVon Hardison. Hardison is an Olympia-based vocalist and a multi-faceted entertainer. In her trio, with pianist Eric Verlinde and bassist Osama Afifi, jazz standards and popular songs.
- to 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 23 features Nathan Breedlove and The nu Trio. Breedlove is a trumpeter, composer and philosopher-in-training who spreads life and love through music. He is joined by Seattle jazz legends, Brian Kirk on drums and Phil Sparks on bass.
- 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 30 features drummer D’Vonne Lewis’ new quartet, Passageways. Mixing Seattle’s rich African-American jazz heritage with today’s social realities, Passageways carries the rhythms of South Africa, Central America and Senegal. The group includes musicians Lewis, Ari Joshua, Alex Dugdale and Thione Diop.

- 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 30 - Join us for an arts and social justice dialog about immigration during our changing political times with an array of different community members including artists, community organizers and more. Highlights will include Native sovereignty, Black diasporas, Asian Pacific Islander organizing and insights into coalition-based community organizing.
