University Branch of The Seattle Public Library Closes July 25 for About Three Weeks for Construction
The University Branch, 5009 Roosevelt Way N.E, will be closed beginning Monday, July 25 for about three weeks while the back stairs and ramp are replaced. The book drop will close at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 24 to give staff time to check in materials before the branch closes.
The branch and book drop are expected to reopen in mid-August; a reopening date will be set once construction work is underway.
The work is part of a three-month exterior construction project to improve access to the branch, as well as to improve drainage from the site. Most of the site, including the front steps and lawns, will be fenced off and inaccessible from July 25 through October.
The main entrance off Roosevelt Way Northeast and the side entry on the north side of the building will be closed through October so patrons will need to use the upgraded back stairs and ramp to enter the branch after it reopens.
While the branch is closed, patrons may choose any other Library location as a pickup location for items placed on hold and may return materials to any branch.
If patrons don't select an alternate branch by Friday, July 15, their holds will be sent to the Northeast Branch, 6801 35th Ave. N.E., 206-684-7539. Patrons also may visit the nearby Green Lake Branch, 7364 E. Green Lake Dr. N., 206-684-7547.
