Meeting Rooms - General Information

The Seattle Public Library has various facilities and meeting rooms that are available for public use during open hours at the branch libraries located throughout the city of Seattle. Branch libraries have meeting rooms that can accommodate 20 to 140 people. No fees are required at this time.

Branch meeting rooms are reserved for non-commercial use only; users may not advertise or sell products, memberships or services, and no fees, donations or money may be requested or collected. No contact information may be solicited from attendees for the purpose of advertising or selling.

All meetings must be open to anyone wishing to attend. The Seattle Public Library reserves the right to review each prospective use and determine whether that use falls within The Seattle Public Library facilities and meeting room user guidelines (this document). Use of the premises may be terminated at any time if the conduct of the group, or any member of the group, is disruptive to Library service, or violates the Library's Rules of Conduct.

All activities and programs conducted in Library buildings are subject to the general rules and regulations of The Seattle Public Library. Failure to comply with meeting room guidelines and all Library policies may result in cancellation of a user's ability to reserve Library meeting spaces for up to six months.

The Seattle Public Library reserves the right to determine the number of events that may be held simultaneously in its facilities. The Seattle Public Library has first priority for use of all of its facilities and meeting rooms and reserves the right to pre-empt any scheduled meeting. In such rare instances, the Library will put forth every reasonable effort to help the group reserve another date or Library facility or meeting room. Whenever possible, the Library will give a cancellation notice of 30 days prior to the event or scheduled meeting.

The meeting rooms of The Seattle Public Library are accessible to people with disabilities in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Library Meeting Rooms Use Policy

In accordance with the City of Seattle Municipal Code 14.08 (Public Accommodations Ordinance), The Seattle Public Library does not discriminate in making its premises available for use on the basis of age, race, color, national origin, marital status, parental status, sexual orientation, gender identity, political ideology, creed, ancestry or the presence of any sensory, mental or physical disability. The use of any of The Seattle Public Library facilities or meeting rooms by any group or organization in no way constitutes endorsement of the policies or beliefs of that organization by the Library or the city of Seattle.
