Watch the Northgate project take shape in a series of photographs devoted to the building process. The project includes the 10,000-square-foot Northgate Branch, and Seattle Parks and Recreation's 20,000-square-foot community center and 1.67-acre park. The most recent activity is shown at the top of the page.

June 2006
The children's area inside the library takes shape. Landscaping, benches and the children's play area at the community center are installed outside.
May 2006
Final details are installed on the library, including the art glass near the book drops.
April 2006
The framework for the shelving in the library is installed. The lawn in the new park and the streetwork begin to take shape.
March 2006
Painting concludes on the exterior of the library while the raised floor is installed over the mechanical systems on the interior.
February 2006
Interior work progresses at the library as windows and drywall are installed.
January 2006
The contractor completes construction of the library roof, allowing interior work to begin.
December 2005
The brickwork is under way at the library as the grass in the park area begins to grow.
November 2005
The exterior walls are framed at the library as brickwork begins on the community center.
Ocbober 2005
The steel structure for the library begins to take shape. The park was hydro-seeded so the seed could sprout before winter.
September 2005
Site development begins as the steel structure for the community center is put in place.
August 2005
Concrete slabs are poured to form the floor of the library as the concrete block gymnasium is completed at the community center.
July 2005
Formwork foundations and concrete slabs begin to take shape at the new library and community center.
June 2005
Formwork and reinforcements are placed for the future walls of the community center.
May 2005
The storm water vault begins to take shape and foundation work continues on the community center.
April 2005
The existing storm drain on the site is removed and excavation begins for both the storm water vault and the community center.
March 2005
The existing buildings on the site are demolished.
