Magnolia Library designated as landmark

The Landmarks Preservation Board unanimously voted to designate the Magnolia Library as a landmark building on March 21, 2001. The designation means the Library will submit its plans to expand the Magnolia Library to the landmarks board for its approval.

Landmark consideration is part of the public review process of structures that are important to the life and heritage of the city. Libraries fall under this review process. Buildings and structures more than 25 years old are eligible for Seattle landmark nomination. The landmarks board evaluates buildings before they are altered or demolished.

By evaluating our buildings now, we avoid any disruption to the building process later.
