EXPANDING THE LAKE CITY BRANCH SCHEMATIC DESIGN UPDATE OPEN HOUSE RECAP

About 40 people attended this open house to see the design for the expansion of the Lake City Library. Seattle Public Library capital project manager Douglas Bailey with Stacie Netherby from ARC Architects displayed architectural drawings and talked with the public about the 5,987-square-foot expansion project. Teresa Rodriguez representing the Department of Neighborhoods was present to address questions about the neighborhood service center, which is being co-located with the library.

Also present at the open house were Seattle Public Library Director of Neighborhood Libraries Claudia McCain, Val Frye, Neighborhood Library Services "Libraries for All" liaison, and Beth de la Fuente, Lake City Library branch manager.

Members of the public talked with the design team about the project. Public reaction to the design of the new library and neighborhood service center was positive. Comments included:

Next steps: Community members were reminded Library staff will be back to present the next level of design at the end of the design development phase.
