Ballard Branch Design ImagesBohlin Cywinski Jackson is designing the new 15,000-square-foot Ballard Branch, which will be built on the site of a former U.S. Bank branch at 5614 22nd Ave. N.W. The building also will include an approximately 3,000-square-foot neighborhood service center. Originally, U.S. Bank also planned to include a 4,700-square-foot bank branch in the building, but when the bank opted out of the project in July 2002 the architects reconfigured the design. Construction is expected to be finished in 2005. Design DevelopmentBohlin Cywinski Jackson developed these images during the latest stage of design, called “design development.” By the end of design development, the architects have finalized the design of the building, including how the library will be laid out and what materials will be used to build it. Schematic DesignThese images are from the first stage of design, called "schematic design." By the end of schematic design, the architects will have established the basic building layout and its electrical, mechanical and structural system needs. The design, including the colors and building materials, will evolve during the next phase of work, called "design development." Click on any image below to see a larger view.
