for Architects, Contractors, and Consultants
The Seattle Public Library Capital
Program Office is accepting qualifications from
experienced General Contractors who wish
to become eligible to bid on the construction
of two branch libraries, the Montlake and Southwest
branches, located in Seattle, Washington. The
estimated value of work for these contracts
is currently between $2.1 million and $2.55
million for the Montlake Branch project, and
between $3.66 million and $3.84 million for
the Southwest Branch project. These projects
will be awarded as separate contracts to the
lowest qualified bidder of each project.
The Montlake Branch project consists
of demolition of three single-family residences,
construction of a 3,100-square-foot partial
basement garage and a 3,100-square-foot library
with additional 950 square feet of office and
1,000 square feet of meeting room and restrooms.
The project is located on a sloped site and
includes a storm and surface water detention
system.
The Southwest Branch project consists
of a partial demolition of the existing 8,213-square-foot
building, renovation of the remaining portion
of the existing building and an addition of
a two-story expansion, resulting in a 15,000-square-foot
building. This project also includes installation
of a hydraulic passenger elevator and an access
flooring system.
The Library will conduct a pre-submittal
conference at 1 p.m. Monday, May 23, 2005, in
the Washington Mutual Foundation Meeting Room
1, level 4 at the Central Library, 1000 Fourth
Ave., Seattle, WA 98104.
The Seattle Public Library will open its 15th
completed Libraries for All project Saturday,
May 14 in Ballard. The Library is proud of its
strong relationship with architects, contractors
and subcontractors, which has resulted in award-winning
buildings. The Library expects the second half
of the Libraries for All building program to
be equally successful and encourages participation
by qualified general contractors.
