OF PROJECT: THE SEATTLE PUBLIC LIBRARY GREEN LAKE & WEST SEATTLE
BRANCHES DATE OF BID OPENING: Thursday, April 10, 2003 PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Green Lake Branch Library: Renovation of the existing 8,690 square-foot branch library at 7364 E. Green Lake Drive N. Seattle, WA 98103. Work to include hazardous materials abatement, window replacement and historic restoration, and general renovation. This library was constructed circa 1910 and is a City of Seattle Landmark. Contractors with historic preservation experience are encouraged to review the Bid Documents. West Seattle Branch Library: Renovation of the existing 7,670 square-foot branch library at 2306 42nd Ave. S.W., Seattle, WA 98116. Work to include hazardous materials abatement, window replacement and historic restoration, conversion of the basement to add approximately 2300 square feet of program space, and general renovation. This library was constructed circa 1910 and is a City of Seattle Landmark. Contractors with historic preservation experience are encouraged to review the Bid Documents.
Return to Information for Architects, Contractors, and Consultants The Seattle Public Library will receive sealed bids from qualified general contractors ONLY until 2 p.m. Thursday, April 10, 2003, in the Board Room on the 2nd Floor, at the Temporary Central Library, 800 Pike St., Seattle, WA 98101. Bids hand delivered will be logged in starting at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, April 10, 2003. Bids delivered before 1:30 p.m. shall go to the Capital Program Office, Attn: Frank Coulter, at the Temporary Central Library. BIDS RECEIVED AFTER 2 P.M. WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. The Seattle Public Library is an Equal Opportunity Employer. No bid will be considered unless accompanied by a certified or bank cashier’s check, or by a bid bond from a state-licensed surety company in an amount of not less than five percent (5%) of the Base Bid including sales tax and Additives and, made payable to THE SEATTLE PUBLIC LIBRARY, Seattle, Washington. Bid, Bid Bond and other enclosures shall be enclosed in an opaque, sealed envelope bearing the name and address of the Bidder and addressed to the Owner. Mark lower left corner of the envelope “Green Lake & West Seattle Bid.” Bid documents will be available on or about Friday, March 14, 2003. Plans and Project Manuals may be obtained at: Olympic Reprographics A deposit check made payable to THE SEATTLE PUBLIC LIBRARY for the amount of $50 is required for each set. Partial sets are not available. The full amount of the deposit will be refunded to the bidders on return of the bid documents in unmarked and non-mutilated condition to Olympic Reprographics within four weeks after the bids are due. Bid documents may also be examined at local plan centers. A MANDATORY pre-bid walk-through and information conference will be held beginning at 1:30 p.m. Monday, March 24, 2003, at the West Seattle branch library at 2306 42nd Ave. S.W., Seattle, WA 98116. The walkthrough will then move to the Green Lake branch library at 7364 E. Green Lake Drive N. Seattle, WA 98103. The Owner, Architect, and Environmental Consultant will be available at that time to review the project requirements. Attendance at this walk-through is MANDATORY. No bidder may withdraw its bid after the hour set for the opening thereof, unless and until the award of contract has been delayed for a period of sixty (60) days.
