PUBLIC LIBRARY BEACON HILL BRANCH DATE OF BID OPENING: THURSDAY, DEC. 19, 2002 PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Construction of a new 10,800 square-foot-library and demolitions of an existing bank branch at 2821 Beacon Ave. S., Seattle, WA 98144
The Seattle Public Library will receive sealed bids for the new Beacon Hill Branch from qualified general contractors ONLY until 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 19, 2002, at the office of Carlson Architects, 2111 Third Ave., Seattle, WA 98121. BIDS RECEIVED AFTER 2 P.M. WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. The Seattle Public Library is an Equal Opportunity Employer. No bid will be considered unless accompanied by a certified or bank cashier's check, or by a bid bond from a state-licensed surety company in an amount of not less than five percent (5%) of the Base Bid and Additives and made payable to THE SEATTLE PUBLIC LIBRARY, Seattle, Washington. Bid, Bid Bond and other enclosures shall be enclosed in an opaque, sealed envelope bearing the name and address of the Bidder and addressed to the Owner. Mark lower left corner of the envelope "Beacon Hill Branch Bid." Bid documents will be available on or about Monday, Nov. 25, 2002. Plans and Project Manuals may be obtained at:
A deposit check made payable to THE SEATTLE PUBLIC LIBRARY for the amount of $50 is required for each set. Partial sets are not available. The full amount of the deposit will be refunded to the bidders on return of the bid documents in unmarked and non-mutilated condition to Reprographics Northwest within two weeks after the bids are due. Bid documents may also be examined at local plan centers. A pre-bid conference will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, 2002, in the Board Room at the Temporary Central Library, 800 Pike St., Seattle. A walk-through of the site will follow this conference. The architect will be available at that time to review the project requirements. No bidder may withdraw its bid after the hour set for the opening thereof, unless and until the award of contract has been delayed for a period of sixty (60) days.
