The lighting system used in the Children's Area is the Philips QL induction lighting system, featured in a custom pendant luminaire by Sterner Lighting.

The glass itself was manufactured by Okalux. A North American rep for Okalux is Schott North America (914) 831-2200. The glass panes were assembled in Okalux’s plant in Germany in Marktheidenfeld, near Frankfurt.

Custom paint color for legs and frames of Quinze & Milan Furniture

Paint is a custom mixed RAL9007 metallic paint

Auditorium chairs & regular chairs at tables in public areas

Purchased from Vitra. The .03 is made of “self-skinned” polyurethane foam over a metal frame with leaf springs. The metal is within the foam itself (for strength and durability).

Living Room and Reading Room patterned carpets; auditorium curtain

Carpets were custom designed for The Seattle Public Library by Petra Blaise of Inside/Outside. Made of aquafil face yarn by Ege. Ege carpet is made up of nylon or polyamid, which is a non-absorbable monofilament or braided synthetic material. It’s a 100 percent recyclable product.

Shelving & compact shelving

The vendor is Spacesaver Northwest. It’s standard shelving with a custom end panel & custom color (paint name = MS Silver, product code = 82786B65K, a standard Herman Miller paint color).

Restroom paint colors

The green color was specified as a match to a Sherwin Williams standard color: "Green Room" SW#1442. The blue was to match Sherwin Williams color: "Glint Blue" SW#1795. The product is an industrial marine coating also by Sherwin Williams. Different gloss levels are available in this series of epoxy coatings. The B60V15 notation we specified is for a gloss finish. The floor coating is a different general polymers/Sherwin Williams product designed for floors, but is also an epoxy finish.

"Pillow" ceiling on Level 10

The ceiling is not a manufactured product. It is made up of acoustic panels wrapped with ripstop nylon (the same fabric that ski parkas, sleeping bags, etc., are made of). The panels were assembled for the Central Library, and cannot be purchased already manufactured.
