LIBRARY BOARD SEEKS PUBLIC INPUT ON LOCATING NEW NORTHGATE LIBRARY

Residents are invited to share their ideas on siting the new Northgate library at a community meeting from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 31, at Olympic View Elementary School, 504 N.E. 95th St., in the multipurpose room. City Librarian Deborah L. Jacobs, Library Board members, and capital program staff will talk about the Library's siting process and criteria, share information on current locations being explored, as well as to hear from the community on other possible sites.

A second community meeting on siting is scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday, March 2, at North Seattle Community College, 9600 College Way N., Student Events Center.

Northgate, one of Seattle's fastest-growing communities, will receive a new 10,000-square-foot library under provisions of the "Libraries for All" building program approved overwhelmingly by voters in November 1998.

The new branch will have a capacity for more than 30,000 books, seating for up to 100 patrons, reading and homework areas for children and youth, adult reference and study areas, computer work stations, instructional spaces and a multipurpose meeting room for community use. The $5.1 million branch is scheduled to open in 2004.

For more information about the community meetings or the building project, call Lake City Branch Manager Beth delaFuente at 684-7518.
