Libraries for All Capital Projects and the University Branch

The University Branch closed on Saturday, Dec. 2, 2006, so construction could begin to renovate the branch to better serve the community. For details and contact information, see Renovating the University Branch.(Opens a new window)


The renovation includes new seating and shelving, a more efficient use of interior space, new computers and study areas, more electrical, communications and computer connections, upgraded technology services and equipment, improved ventilation, and an updated book collection.


Library services during construction


University Branch users are invited to use any location of The Seattle Public Library. See Library Locator above. The service sites closest to University are:

Green Lake Branch
7364 E. Green Lake Dr. N.


Montlake Branch
2401 24th Ave. E.


North East Branch
6801 35th Ave. N.E.


Northgate Branch
10548 Fifth Ave. N.E.


Wallingford Branch
1501 N. 45th St.


University Branch users may choose any other location of The Seattle Public Library as a pickup location for items placed on hold, interlibrary loan requests or purchase suggestions. Library materials may be returned to any branch. If patrons don't select an alternate branch, their holds will be sent to the Green Lake Branch.
