Reading to young children gives them an early love of books and encourages them to become lifelong readers. You can start your child's reading adventure with the "Begin with Books" Toddler, Preschool and Bilingual theme kits described below. Use the Library's online catalog to order these kits. By placing a hold, kits will be delivered to the branch of The Seattle Public Library of your choice.

 


Preschool Theme Kits

Mother and child Reading

These kits are designed for families and caregivers working with children 3 to 6 years old. Each kit contains five to nine picture books, a resource book, a toy, an audio or video tape and a curriculum guide. They are available in basic themes such as Alphabet, Counting and Mother Goose as well as Five Senses, Dinosaurs, Dragons and Castles, Sharing, Self Esteem and other age appropriate themes.

Toddler Theme Kits

Young child These kits are designed for families and caregivers to use one-on-one with a child ages birth to 3 years old. Each kit contains five board books, a music cd, a resource book and an activity card. They are available in a variety of age appropriate themes including Dinosaurs, Out of Diapers and Sleepy Time.

Bilingual Family Literacy Kits

Mother and child The Seattle Public Library has created a series of bilingual kits for parents and care givers to share with their children, birth to five years of age. These kits are intended for families who speak Spanish or Vietnamese as their first language. Each kit contains books, music, a toy and tips and activities for reading with young children.
