The Seattle Public Library to implement new seven-day checkout period for DVDs
The Seattle Public Library will change its loan period for DVDs to one week beginning Saturday, April 1.
The Seattle Public Library is implementing this change to allow greater circulation of DVDs, which are among the highest demand items at the Library. The decision was also based on patron comments.
Currently, the loan period for all items checked out at The Seattle Public Library is three weeks. By reducing the loan period for DVDs, patrons with popular DVD movies on reserve will get them sooner. A DVD may be renewed twice if there are no holds on the item.
The change also brings The Seattle Public Library's loan period for DVDs in line with neighboring public library systems.
