'Danger: Books!' A Celebration of Intellectual Freedom

Book-It Repertory Theatre brought its "Danger: Books!" program to the Central Library on Sept. 21, 2009. This event marked Banned Books Week, which is nationally recognized Sept. 26 - Oct. 3, 2009. Professional actors from Book-It Repertory Theatre read short passages from banned or challenged books.

Comixtravaganza: Teen Center Advisor Danielle interviews the 'Getting Into Comics' Panel

On Saturday, January 26, the Library celebrated the finale of a month-long Comixtravaganza-a system-wide celebration of comics, manga, graphic novels, and the artists who make them. The day began with a comic-making workshop, hosted by local cartoonist David Lasky. It continued with a panel called "Getting Into Comics," featuring local cartoonists and members of the comics industry. Ellen Forney, acclaimed cartoonist and illustrator, headlined with a multi-media presentation about her work.
