2017 Summer of Learning: Blast off to space! Reading Mission

Your Reading Mission

Complete a reading mission by reading anything for 20 minutes. Books, Magazines, comic books, websites, reading out loud or listening to a book all count!

Read whatever interests you, whether it's a book, a comic, a poem, riddles, a recipe or you read to somebody else (or your dog or cat!)... it all counts!

 

Here are a few suggestions of space-related reading to get you started:

Here's how to join in:

Your mission, if you choose to accept it, is to spend time this summer exploring your galaxy

Pick up a free Mission Log from your library branch or download and print out the activities and mission log. Then begin exploring space-related activities, games, puzzles and reading missons.
 
 

The more you do, the more you win!

Level 1
  • Read 20 minutes a day for 8 days
  • complete 2 activities from your Mission Log

Earn these prizes:

  • your name on the Wall of Space Voyagers,
  • one entry into the grand prize drawing
  • one prize from the prize box at your local library.
Level 2
  • Read 20 minutes a day for 8 additional days
  • complete 2 more activities from your Mission Log

Earn all Level 1 prizes plus:

  • one additional entry into the grand prize drawing
  • one prize from the prize box at your local library.
Level 3
  • Read 20 minutes a day for 7 additional days
  • complete 3 more activities from your Mission Log

Earn all Levels 1 &  2 prizes plus:

  • one additional entry into the grand prize drawing
  • one prize from the prize box at your local library.

 

Attend free programs all summer long at a library near you.
