Sensory Story Times

Sensory story times are geared for children ages 10 and under who have a hard time in large groups, are on the autism spectrum, or are sensitive to sensory overload.

Our librarians will use preschool-level books, songs and movement during story times.

Registration is not required. Sensory story times are first come, first served and limited to 12 families. These story times are not appropriate for day cares.

Preparing for Story Time

Use these visual guides to familiarize your child with spaces such as the meeting rooms, restrooms and parking lots at the branches. These guides also include photos of the story time presenters. Look through the guides online or print them out.

Story Time Format

All story times will follow the same format of songs, activities and books. Use this graphic to familiarize your child with the order of  events.

Story Time Songs

Presenters will sing the same four songs in the following order at all sensory story times. Listen to an audio recording of each song with your child or print out the words.
