Begin with Books

Begin with BooksReading to young children gives them an early love of books and encourages them to become lifelong readers. You can start your child's reading adventure with the "Begin with Books" Toddler and Preschool theme kits described below. Use the Library's online catalog to order these kits. By placing a hold, kits will be delivered to the branch of The Seattle Public Library of your choice.

Preschool Theme Kits

mother and child readingThese kits are designed for families and caregivers working with children 3 to 6 years old. Each kit contains five picture books, a music cd, a resource book and an activity card. They are available in basic themes such as Alphabet, Counting and Mother Goose as well as Five Senses, Dinosaurs, Dragons and Castles, Sharing, Self Esteem and other age appropriate themes.

Toddler Theme Kits

Young child These kits are designed for families and caregivers to use one-on-one with a child ages birth to 3 years old. Each kit contains five board books, a music cd, a resource book and an activity card. They are available in a variety of age appropriate themes including Dinosaurs, Out of Diapers and Sleepy Time.
