The Library's mobile phone app offers "BookLook," a service that allows you to scan and place holds on books with your smartphone.

 

How To Scan a book

1. Download the SPL Mobile app
   
   
2. Open the app and select "BookLook" from the menu
   
   
   
   
3. Press "Click here to activate the scanner"
   
   
   
   
4. Hold your phone sideways until the scanner focuses on the ISBN or UPC barcode from the book cover. The scanner will beep when it is finished.
   
   
5. Select your book from the list of results.
   
   
6. Place a hold.

 

If the book you are searching for does not show up, the Library may have a different edition of the title. At the top of the BookLook screen, type in an ISBN to search the Library's collection.

This service is available for iPhone, Android and other smartphones that support a camera (currently unavailable on Win 7). BookLook focuses on book ISBNs, but some DVD/CD search support is available.
