Upgrade complete to Level 3 floor of Central Library; Some services moved to new locations on floor
The Seattle Public Library has completed upgrading the finish of the wood floor on Level 3 of the Central Library. In a related move, the Library has permanently relocated some public services to different positions on Level 3 to improve their visibility and use:
FriendShop: Southeast corner.
Coffee cart: Next to the FriendShop.
Public computers: East wall across from the check-out desk.
Welcome Desk: South end of the check-out desk.
Self-check machines: North end of the check-out desk, though the stand-alone self-check machine in Fiction remains in the same place.
Fiction collection changes
Fiction shelving: Expanded into space formerly occupied by FriendShop & coffee cart. Some shelving was lowered to improve sight lines to Fiction desk.
Washington Authors Collection: Level 10, Hugh and Jane Ferguson Seattle Room.
Easternmost row of public computers in Fiction: Some computers moved to the other Fiction public computer table & some to Teens.
The Level 3 floor was refinished because the original water-based finish did not wear well. It was replaced with a more durable oil-based finish.
