The Seattle Public Library to implement two-week checkout period for DVDs
The Seattle Public Library will extend its loan period for DVDs from one week to two weeks beginning Wednesday, Nov. 1. The change also applies to DVD sets, such as television series and multi-part travel and history collections. A DVD may be renewed twice if there are no holds on the item.
The Library is implementing this change so that patrons have more time to enjoy DVDs, which are among the highest demand items at the Library. The decision was also based on patron comments.
The Library had piloted a one-week loan period for DVDs starting in April 2006 to allow faster circulation of DVDs.
