Piano Samplings From Seattle Philharmonic Orchestra at The Seattle Public Library Jan. 24

Enjoy a live piano performance at The Seattle Public Library! Adam Stern, artistic director for the Seattle Philharmonic Orchestra, will talk about the Philharmonic's upcoming concert "Three Decades, Five Treasures" from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 24 at the Central Library, 1000 Fourth Ave., Level 1, Microsoft Auditorium, 206-386-4636.


Library programs are free and everyone is welcome. Registration is not required. Parking is available in the Central Library garage at the regular rates.


The Philharmonic's upcoming concert features music from the first three decades of the 20th century:

  • Ottorino Respighi's "The Pines of Rome"
  • Erik Satie's score for René Clair's film "Entr'acte"
  • a folksong arrangement by Percy Grainger
  • a symphonic poem by Dimitri Mitropoulus
  • two haunting rarities for cello and orchestra by Jean Sibelius
