Learn How to Research Family History at The Seattle Public Library

DNA tests have been rising in popularity over the past few years, and The Seattle Public Library can help put a name and face to people's test results. Learn how to research family history in September and October at the Central Library and Douglass-Truth Branch.

 

Library events are free and open to the public. Registration is required for some workshops. To register, visit the event's calendar listing and click on "Sign Up" or "Online registration is required."

 

WORKSHOP SCHEDULE

 

African-American Genealogy

Seattle Genealogical Society vice president Janice Lovelace will demonstrate how to research ancestors that were slaves through the use of land, probate, census and court records. No registration is required.

 

Irish Genealogy

Uncover an ancestor's Irish immigrant roots. A genealogy librarian will provide research techniques, archives and genealogical sources for Irish family research. Online registration is required.

  

Genealogy Databases: Ancestry Library Edition

A genealogy librarian will demonstrate how to search for ancestors using the Library's electronic databases and online resources. This workshop will focus on how to use the Ancestry Library Edition database. Online registration is required.
