Library Closed Monday, May 29

All locations of The Seattle Public Library and the book drops at the Central Library will be closed on Memorial Day, Monday, May 29.


Service interruption in the Library's Online Catalog – May 28 and May 29

The Library will be performing maintenance on our catalog starting at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, May 28 - 6:30 p.m. Monday, May 29. During this time, you will be able to search the Bibliocommons catalog, but will not be able to log in, place holds, renew items or use other catalog features. The former Library catalog (Horizon Information Portal), SPL Mobile, access to e-books, free music downloads and many databases and applications also will be unavailable.

The Seattle Public Library offers gift ideas during 'Books for Giving' Dec. 7

Books for Giving

Need gift ideas for the book lover in your life? The Seattle Public Library will offer holiday gift suggestions during its "Books for Giving" reader's advisory event from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 7 on the Library's Facebook page.


To get reading suggestions during "Books for Giving," log on to your Facebook account and visit the Library's Facebook page. Post a note on the Library's Facebook wall with some information about the intended recipient and what kind of books they like to read. Librarians from The Seattle Public Library will suggest two or three books that might make good gifts.


Readers are also always welcome to get personalized book lists with five hand-picked titles from the Library's "Your Next Five Books" service available on the Library's website at www.spl.org.
