Rainier Beach Branch of The Seattle Public Library reopens Dec. 30
The Rainier Beach Branch of The Seattle Public Library, 9125 Rainier Ave. S., 206-386-1906, will reopen at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2015, after being closed since August for roofing, carpeting and other improvements. The Library also reconfigured the interior layout to create flexible spaces for children, teens and adults.

Enter The Door To A Pink Universe: The Seattle Public Library launches speculative flash fiction contest Jan. 1
Library card holders ages 17 and up are invited to enter The Seattle Public Library’s first speculative flash fiction contest, Door to A Pink Universe. The contest will run from Friday, Jan. 1 through Monday, Feb. 29. The competition is held in honor of science fiction writer and Seattle resident Octavia Butler, who heralded libraries for their contribution to her development as a writer. Up to three winners will be published on the Library's website and win literary prizes from EMP museum, Clarion West Writers Workshop or Norwescon.

The Seattle Public Library adds Self-Published Books to E-book Collection
All Washington state authors are invited to submit their works to The Seattle Public Library’s e-book collection using the new SELF-e self-publishing platform, and to attend a public reception in August to celebrate the circulation of local, self-published e-books.
